Common Fears of Acupuncture

is it the needles ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
non believer ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often i am talking to a prospective patient and i hear things like "is it going to hurt" or "does this even work" or "it's too expensive".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d like to take a moment to comment on some of these thoughts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀


▽ {does it hurt} ▽⠀⠀⠀

Honestly... sometimes yes. Although, so does the pain of plantar fasciitis or chronic migraines or sciatica. Most of the time, acupuncture is painless and feels calming. On occasion it may feel like a bit of pressure if we are treating a site of injury. Most often though, it is very minimal and any discomfort fades in a matter of seconds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And you know what else fades... your P A I N ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
worth it don't you think?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

▽ {its too expensive} ▽⠀⠀

I think of preventative medicine the same way I think of good organic food ↠ I can either spend $ now to maintain my health and correct imbalances or I can wait and spend much more later in the form of hospital bills and pharmaceutical medications ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Not the answer you were hoping for, I know.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nothing works without your cooperation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That means you cannot eat junk food and work out for an hour and hope to feel better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the same way, you cannot continue to live a lifestyle that harms you and assume an acupuncture session and a bottle of herbs will make you better. ⠀⠀⠀
Traditional Chinese Medicine is not a one size fits all approach to health ↠ this is not 'take this pill, feel instantly better' medicine.

This is a system of medicine designed to help the body you are in be better. The acupuncture and herbs are only tools to help your body heal and stay that way.⠀The approach of alternative medicine is slow moving but side-effect free. This is an opportunity to make changes, lifestyle and dietary, to support long tern health and wellness.
